Fungal Nail Infection Treatment
Onychomycosis, is a fungal infection of the nail. Symptoms may include white or yellow nail discoloration, thickening of the nail, and separation of the nail from the nail bed. Fingernails may be affected, but it is more common for toenails. Our IPL (intense pulsed light) targets the fungal cells with infrared light causing them to over heat eventually destroying the cells, this is without damaging the healthy skin around it. As the fungus can spread to other nails, all nails in the fingers or toes depending on the area where the fungus is present, are treated.
The treatment takes 20 minutes and there is no downtime required.
For optimum results clients need one session per week for the first 4 to 6 weeks depending on the severity of the case. The fungus will eventually die away and the new nail growth will be without fungal infection. It can take up to 9 months for fungal nail to grow out.
